| Extend Your Bike (And Its Uses) With an Xtracycle |
2010-02-10 |
Have you ever gone grocery shopping with your bike, and then realized that there was no way a big bag of dog food and a few cases of soda were going to fit in your backpack? An Xtracycle just may be what you're looking for. These unique extensions of your bicycle allow you to carry all sorts of large and heavy loads. You can even use it to "bikepool" with a friend to work!
We're now a dealer of Xtracycles and Xtracycle accessories. We have a demo version available for testing, so come on down to the shop to try one out. We promise we won't make you go get cat food for Buster.

| Come get your skis! |
2009-12-17 |
Now that the snow is here in full force, it might be time to hang up your bicycle (unless you want studded tires - which we have in stock!). If you want to get out and enjoy the snowy Iowa winter, why not stop by to pick up some skis?
We sell individual cross country skis, boots and poles from Fischer Skis, as well as apparel and maintenance items. Complete ski packages that include boots, poles, skis and bindings start under $289.
Not looking to buy? Not a problem - we have a full fleet of Fischer Jupiter Control skis, poles and XC boots. A range of sizes are available for children and adults. Rent for just a day or weekend, or if you're feeling ambitious, a whole week or month! Call or stop by for rates and get skiing today.
If you already have some skis, but are looking to get them in shape for the season, we can help with that, too. Call or stop by to inquire about waxing, tuning, and binding mounting rates.

| Thank You for Your Donations! |
2009-12-09 |
We just wanted to say thank you all for your donations during our canned goods discount drive. Thanks to your kindness, we collected 217 individual items of canned and dry goods, which is over 270 pounds of food! There will certainly be some grateful folks this winter season. All of the food we collected will go to the Mid-Iowa Community Action food pantry to benefit those in need in our community.

| Anne's Killer Brownies |
2006-02-11 |
Anne’s Killer Brownies
There are always treats in the mechanic’s shop at Skunk River Cycles. From donuts to granola we eat just about anything. But one of our favorite edible treats is a brownie made by Jim Moutray’s daughter Anne. We just die when they are not around to chomp on. Our blood sugar drops because we are not able to get our necessary nutritional needs from this incredibly tasty treat. A day at the shop without these brownies just kills us.
3 eggs
18 oz. Prunes*
¾ c. oil
1 ½ tbs. almond extract
Big pinch of Salt
1 c. fruit sour brown rice syrup for sweetner
4 oz. Honey
15 oz. Red raspberry (100% fruit preserves - no sugar)
2 1/3 c. brown rice flour
1 ½ c. unsweetened dark cocoa
1 ½ tsp. Baking powder
3 c. walnuts
Mix wet ingredients well and add dry ingredients then add the walnuts last. Grease a pan, pre-heat the oven to 350° and bake for 28 minuets.
*Smash prunes in a little water with medium heat, until spreadable.
